Privacy Policy
Effective November 2, 2026
The short version
- Without an account, everything you make with PlaceAnew stays on your iPhone or iPad. We don't receive it.
- When you sign in, your projects, scans, plans, kitchen designs and photos, AI pictures and the locations saved with them are kept in your account on our servers, so you can open them on your other devices.
- AI features send what they need to the AI companies we work with (Anthropic and OpenAI) and to Google. The app asks you before the first time. These companies may not train their AI on it.
- No ads, no tracking across other companies' apps and websites, and we do not sell or share your personal information.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time. That deletes your projects and files on our servers too.
Who we are
PlaceAnew is made by US Construction Remodeling Corp. ("we", "us"), a licensed remodeling contractor in Sacramento, California (CSLB License #1117562). This policy covers the PlaceAnew app for iPhone and iPad and the website placeanew.com. Questions: support@placeanew.com.
If you use PlaceAnew without an account
Tap Continue locally on the sign-in screen and you can scan, draw plans, view in 3D, edit, design a kitchen and export without an account. Everything you make is saved only inside the app on your iPhone or iPad:
- room scans, including the LiDAR depth data and the video recorded during your walk,
- floor plans, 3D models, kitchen designs, measurements and edits,
- photos you take in the app and files you export.
Scans are processed on your device, and we don't receive any of this. If you delete the app, iOS deletes this content with it. The app still asks our server which features are turned on, and Apple which version is newest; these requests don't include your name, your projects or your location. When you look up an address without an account, the app uses Apple's address search, which Apple handles under its own privacy policy.
AI features, estimate requests and kitchen approval need an account, because they use our servers.
If you create an account
An account is optional. You can sign up with an email address and password, with Sign in with Apple, or with Google. When you do, we keep:
| Information | Why we use it |
|---|---|
| Name and email address | To create your account, sign you in, verify your email and write to you about your account. |
| Password (email sign-up only) | To sign you in. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy. |
| Apple or Google account ID | To sign you in with that provider. We never see your Apple or Google password. |
| A device identifier Apple gives our app, your device model, iOS version and app version, and your sign-in sessions | To keep you signed in on your device, protect your account and know which app version you use. The identifier is not your phone number or your device's serial number. |
| City, region and country, if you add them | To show them on your profile. This is optional. |
| Account activity, such as sign-in dates and how many AI requests you made this month | To keep your account secure, apply monthly limits and help you when you contact us. |
| Your projects and what is saved with them | To keep them in your account. See Projects in your account. |
Your account and everything in it are kept on our company system at erp.usconstructioncali.com, which US Construction Remodeling Corp. runs on servers it rents from Hostinger.
Sign in with Apple and Google
If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple may let you hide your email address; we then receive a private relay address. If you choose Google, Google's sign-in software runs in the app and Google processes information under its own policy. See Apple's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy.
Projects in your account
While you are signed in, PlaceAnew saves your projects to your account on our servers by itself, so you can open them on another iPhone or iPad and don't lose them with your phone. For each project we keep:
- its name and address, and its place on the map if you set one,
- the location where each room scan was made (a GPS point the app saves with the scan, used to line the plan up with north and to know where the project is),
- floor plans with your edits, room names and measurements, the 3D model, the plan's PDF, SVG, DXF and CSV files and its cover picture,
- kitchen designs with their prices, and the kitchen photos you keep, including AI pictures,
- the results of AI features for that plan.
What stays on the phone that made the scan: the walk video, the LiDAR depth data, the photo captures of a Space and the photos of the outside of a house are not saved to your account. Some of them are sent for a short time when you start an AI feature; see AI features.
Projects you made without an account. When you sign in, the app asks once whether to move the projects you made without an account into it. Tap Not now to keep them only on your device. If you sign in from a feature that needs an account, such as ✨ Fix with AI, the project you have open moves into your account so the feature can use it.
Who sees it. You, on the devices where you sign in. A small number of our staff can see your projects to run the service, fix problems and correct a project's name or address. We look at what is in a project only to help you, when you ask for an estimate or a kitchen, or when the law requires it.
Deleting a project. When you delete a project in the app, we take it out of your account. Its scans and files are deleted from our servers 365 days later. Its name and address stay in our records until you delete your account.
Camera, location, photos and notifications
PlaceAnew asks for these permissions only when a feature needs them. You can change them any time in iPhone Settings.
- Camera and LiDAR: to scan rooms, record the video of your walk while you scan, and take photos of the outside of a house.
- Location while using the app: to save where a scan was made (to line the plan up with north and to know where the project is), to record where each outside photo of a house was taken and which way it faces, to show nearby addresses first when you look one up, and to fill in your city or region if you ask it to. Location is precise. Without an account it stays on your device. With an account, the scan location is saved with the project as described above, and the other locations are sent only when you use the feature that needs them.
- Add to Photos: to save kitchen pictures you choose to keep. PlaceAnew does not read your photo library.
- Notifications: see Notifications.
PlaceAnew doesn't use your microphone; the walk video has no sound.
Notifications
If you allow notifications while signed in, Apple gives the app a notification token. We save it with your account, together with the app's language and version, to tell you when an AI result or an AI picture is ready, or when something changes about a kitchen you approved. Apple's Push Notification service delivers the message, so Apple handles the token and the notification's text, which can include a project's name. We delete the token when you sign out on that device, when you delete your account, or when Apple tells us it is no longer used. To stop notifications, turn them off in iPhone Settings > Notifications > PlaceAnew.
AI features
Some PlaceAnew features use artificial intelligence (AI). They need an account and run only when you start them. Before an AI feature sends anything for the first time, the app tells you what it sends and to which company, and asks you to agree.
When you start one, the app sends what that feature needs to our servers. Our servers send it on to the company that does the AI work and send the answer back to your app:
| Feature | What is sent, and to whom |
|---|---|
| ✨ Fix with AI: names rooms, tidies walls and finds furniture and doors in a scan | The floor plan and its files, and the video and pictures from the walk you recorded during the scan. Our server picks still pictures from them and sends those, with the plan, to Anthropic (Claude). |
| Measure with AI: outside measurements and roof of a house | The photos of the outside of the house, with where each was taken and which way it faces, and the property's address and place on the map. Anthropic (Claude) reads the photos. Our server sends the house's place on the map to Google (Solar API) to get aerial and roof data for it. |
| AI picture of a kitchen | A picture of your kitchen design and the finishes you picked. Our server sends them to OpenAI, which makes the picture. |
| Address suggestions | What you type in an address field, and the location of the house you are working on so that nearby addresses come first. Our server sends them to Google (Places) and shows you the suggestions. When this is off, or without an account, Apple's address search is used instead. |
We use these companies' paid business services. Their terms do not allow them to use what we send to train their AI models. They may keep it for a short time to provide the service and check for abuse, and then delete it. Google handles what it receives under the Google Privacy Policy.
On our side:
- What the app uploads for ✨ or Measure with AI is deleted from our company system when the job is finished. Working copies on our AI server are deleted within 7 days.
- The answers, and the AI pictures of your kitchen, are kept with your account until you delete it.
- We don't store the picture of your design that you send for an AI kitchen picture, or what you type for address suggestions.
- For each AI request we keep a usage record (date, feature, size and cost) to apply monthly limits and for our accounts. It doesn't contain your photos or your text, and after you delete your account it no longer shows who you are.
AI can be wrong. Look over every AI result before you rely on it.
Estimate requests (California)
For a project in California, a signed-in user can tap Get an estimate to ask US Construction Remodeling for a remodeling estimate. Whether a project is in California is worked out on your phone, from the project's address or the place where it was scanned.
When you send a request, we create a customer record and a request in our company's customer system with your name and email, the phone number and note you add, the project's name and address, and a summary of the scan with its plan PDF and cover picture. Someone from our team then calls or emails you about the estimate. We use these details only for your estimate and the work that may follow.
These are business records. They stay with us when you delete your PlaceAnew account. You can ask us to delete them by email (see Your California privacy rights).
Approving a kitchen
Where kitchen approval is offered, approving a kitchen creates a quotation and a contract in our company system with the kitchen design, its prices and the job site address. You sign and pay the deposit on our own secure web page. Card payments are handled by Stripe; the app never sees your card number. Signed contracts and payment records are business and legal records, and we keep them when you delete your account.
PlaceAnew Pro and in-app purchases
When you buy PlaceAnew Pro or an exterior report in the app, Apple handles the payment; we never see your card or your Apple ID password. The app sends our server Apple's signed record of the purchase, and Apple's server tells ours when a subscription renews, ends or is refunded. We keep the product, the purchase and end dates, whether it is the free month, the price and currency, the App Store country, Apple's transaction numbers and a random number we create to link the purchase to your PlaceAnew account. We use them to turn on what you bought on all your devices, to answer questions about a purchase, and for our accounts and taxes. Subscription terms are in our Terms of Use.
When you share
When you export a plan, PDF or 3D file and send it by AirDrop, Mail, Messages or another app, it goes where you send it. The person or app that receives it handles it under their own rules.
When you contact us
If you email us or send a bug report from the app, we use your email address, what you send us and your app version to answer you.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only with companies that help us run PlaceAnew, and only for that purpose:
- Hostinger hosts our servers, this website and our placeanew.com email.
- Anthropic and OpenAI do the work of the AI features above.
- Google gives address suggestions and aerial and roof data, and runs Google sign-in if you choose it.
- Apple runs Sign in with Apple, push notifications, the App Store and in-app purchases.
- Stripe handles card payments for kitchen deposits.
We also share information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.
What we don't do:
- We don't show ads, and we don't use advertising or analytics tools that track you.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps and websites.
- We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.
This website does not use cookies, analytics or ads. Our servers and our web host keep standard logs (such as IP address, time and the page or request) for security and to fix problems.
How long we keep information
- Account information: while your account exists.
- Projects, scans, files, AI results and AI pictures: while your account exists. A deleted project's scans and files are deleted 365 days after you delete it.
- What you send for an AI feature: deleted when the job is finished; working copies within 7 days.
- Notification tokens: until you sign out on that device, delete your account, or Apple reports the token is no longer used.
- Estimate requests, kitchen contracts and payment records: as long as we need them for the estimate or the work and as the law requires; they are not deleted with your account.
- In-app purchase records: as long as our accounts and the law require; when you delete your account they are kept without the link to it.
- AI usage records (without your photos or text): for our accounts.
- Server logs: only as long as needed for security and fixing problems.
- Content on your device: until you delete it or the app.
- Emails to us: as long as needed to help you and keep a record of the conversation.
When you delete your account, we delete your account information, your sign-in sessions and devices, notification tokens, and the projects, scans, files, AI jobs and AI pictures kept in it, except records the law requires us to keep. Estimate requests and signed kitchen contracts stay with us as business records, and in-app purchase records stay without the link to your account. Deleting your account does not cancel a PlaceAnew Pro subscription; cancel it in iPhone Settings > your name > Subscriptions. Projects saved on your device stay there; delete them in the app, or delete the app.

Your California privacy rights
If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to get a copy of it; to ask us to delete it; to correct it; and to not be treated differently for using these rights. We collect the kinds of information described in this policy: identifiers and contact details, your projects and the photos and video sent for AI features, precise location, and records of estimates and purchases. We get them from you and your device, and we use them only to provide PlaceAnew and the services you ask for. We use precise location only to provide the features you use. We do not sell or share personal information as those words are defined in California law.
To use a right, email support@placeanew.com with the subject "Privacy". We will confirm who you are using the email address on your account and answer within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent. More about these rights: California Attorney General.
Children
PlaceAnew is not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the app and our servers, store only scrambled (hashed) copies of passwords and sign-in session keys, keep each account's files separate, and limit who on our team can see your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password if you sign up with email.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already have, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
